FAMIC - Funeral and Memorial Information Council
NCBVA is a proud member of The Funeral and Memorial Information Council (FAMIC). FAMIC provides Have the Talk of a Lifetime, a consumer education outreach effort to urge families to talk with loved ones about life, the things that matter most and how they want to be remembered when they die.
Deep down, most of us want to know that we, in some way, made a difference in this world. Having the Talk of a Lifetime can make the difference of a lifetime. It can help reacquaint us with our loved ones and help us get to know them in a new and different way.
Have the Talk
FAMIC created Have the Talk of a Lifetime to help families have important conversations during which they can discuss the things that matter most to them and how a person’s life story can be remembered and honored in a meaningful way.
Meaningful memorialization can be transformative, healing and comforting. Today it can reflect a person’s life story, values, interests and experiences. Funeral and memorialization professionals are dedicated to helping families discover how they can honor and celebrate a life in a meaningful way. Have the Talk of a Lifetime offers families practical advice and tools to help them have conversations about the things that matter most and how they hope to be remembered when they die and for generations to come.
Resources are available for you at no charge on the FAMIC website. You can download a brochure, or workbook, a family activity guide, read helpful blog articles or watch videos from those who have had the talk! There are many resources available on the website. You can even find a funeral or memorialization professional near you, using the Search Tool, who can answer more in-depth questions you may have as you begin these conversations.
Start today. Sit down with your loved ones to talk about their lives. Learn about memorable events and people, places and favorite activities, values and the lessons they learned. You can start with an easy question:
Tell me about the most fun time you had growing up.
Take some time and Have the Talk of a Lifetime with your loved ones.
